WAR AND PROTEST

There is war and protest today

Also, yester and yonder, it has been this way

The war cries criminal

The protesters understand

It has never been about whose land

But whose army can

Something is different now

Despite the perpetual history

Something hard to put poetically

It is the culmination and wide use of technology

Yes, drones and smart phones

Think what the photo has done

Maps and satellites

Mass communications of war crimes being done

Then people ask, “What is worse than what cannot be undone”?

War is not a playground

War is not fun

I have heard those who wish they were in one

I have heard those who say “I am ready for the big one”

They say “why did we not nuke them in two thousand and one”

They say this because they think war is fun.

Then I see the protesters

I cringe at their beliefs

That righteous out cries will not be met with violence in the streets

There is a lot of them

Some may say too many

That is why we cannot hear them

So, they gas them

Arrest the brave

Draft the ones who value more getting paid

Then convince those who are watching

That the ones protesting

Are the ones getting paid

War and Protest

It has always been this way

They represent us until we get in the way
